Left dormant, a festering plague
Is sleeping in my withered skin
Hope delayed
Frail limbs stir in the harrowing still
A threnody of memory
Fears fulfilled by your will
Awake on the altar
Scent of corruption, resolve falters
Air of atrophy fades
Cast the world in darker shades
Pale hands, furtive with spite
Gather the grey light
Some fall, some will rise
Gain not the waking eyes
Sallow shades will slake this dusk
Endure, in grief entrust
Raised on the flesh, my struggle declines
By the shadows, my lifeblood consign
No deliverance, nor sanctuary from decay
Blistering radiance, lead me into the grey
Set in my veins, I embrace this fire
I offer my flesh to your silent wrath
Fuel my torment, you hollow affliction

The songs are masterfully composed and flow together beautifully, and the orchestration is exactly how I want metal orchestration to sound: full, playable by a real orchestra, and just as important to the music as the vocals, drums, guitar, and bass are. tonycordeshimself

I never cared about symphonic metal at all. I do very much care about folk as well as progressive metal, and so I couldn't resist after reading the third exceptional AMG review for Wilderun in a row. 'Sleep...' has been on my radar for quite some time, being graced by one of the most beckoning cover arts I have ever seen. The band more than lives up to its reputation, composing great musical pieces from start to finish. I absolutely love the multitude of influences being put together here. David Fischer

Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74
